Niroga Institute
The Niroga Institute teaches a combination of mindful yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation they call Transformative Life Skills to students, vulnerable youth, cancer survivors, seniors and people battling addiction. Schecter Films has produced several short videos for the web for Niroga to spread the word about their work, which helps thousands of people every week in schools, juvenile halls, homeless shelters, cancer hospitals and rehab centers. Niroga also trains minority young adults to become Certified Yoga teachers, prepared to serve their own communities with cultural competence and linguistic sensitivity.
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national non-profit with the mission to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience. Schecter Films produced this 9 minute piece featuring PCA National Advisory Board Member and NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young. Shot in 5 cities around the country, the film was completed in 8 weeks from initial discussions through final delivery.
Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST)
Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) is a nonprofit land trust based in Palo Alto, dedicated to preserving the beauty, character and diversity of the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Cruz Mountain range. Schecter Films produced 5 short videos for their current Heart of the Redwoods campaign. Schecter also films their annual Wallace Stegner Lecture Series.
Mindful Schools
Mindful Schools is a nonprofit working to integrate mindfulness into education. They use mindfulness to teach children how to focus, manage their emotions, handle their stress, and resolve conflicts. Steve filmed their work in many Oakland classrooms.
